NYC: Day 2
Work
Today was my first work day in NYC. It started off with my coworkers and I fresh-faced, ready to take on the world. Ironically when we arrived to our first appointment, we were told our client was not located there. They had moved locations over a year ago! Nonetheless the onset of panic was averted when we learned their alternate office was a few blocks down on the Avenue of the Americas....

NYC: Day 1
Hello all from the Big Apple! Yes, yours truly is in NYC for work for the entire week!
New York is a short flight from Chicago, about an hour and a half. My Boss and I landed to a beautiful day. Sunshine streaming from the sky, a little chilly but nonetheless a city teeming with energy, vivaciousness and non-stop activity. I’ve been to NYC in the past, once when I was in college but this...

The difference between women from the south (me)...
A young, decent looking male guest in the hotel comments on your beauty and possibly even asks you out.
Do you:
A) Smile, say thank you and you’re flattered but you have a boyfriend.
or
B) Freak out. Cannot believe he asked you something like that, how dare he? Doesn’t he know you have a boyfriend?! Proceed to avoid all emails or correspondence from him like the plague.
Yeah,...

Book Review: West of Here
West of Here by Jonathan Evison
So first fiction book of 2012 completed, folks! I really enjoyed this book. The author, Jonathan Evison, pulls a Gabriel Garcia Marquez and tells the story from various characters’ points of view of residents of Port Bonita, Washington. The cool thing about the residents’ viewpoints is that the storytelling spans more than a hundred years. Evison is...

President's Day
equals none of my clients in their office, a lot of kicked back emails and a seat on the EL for both connections to the Brown and Red Line. WINNING!

Can I just vent here?
I mean, it is my blog, right? Can I just bitch about how I had a doctor’s appointment today, and not a very fun one, a lady doctor appointment if you must know, and I I sat in that stupid paper gown with no undies on, butt naked underneath for OVER AN HOUR waiting for my Doctor. No one came into to check on me to ensure I had magazines or something to occupy my time, no one came in to tell...

Portland Trip [revisited]
It’s been a few weeks since I visited Portland but a post should definitely be dedicated to it. As such, enjoy some of this random-stream-of-conscious that I wrote while there:
In Portland again for work and it’s just as beautiful as I remember, if not better. I’ve had sunshine and mild temperatures for the past 2 days. People stroll about, homeless people laze in the sun with...

Today is so busy
and I feel like I’ve been neglecting my blog as of late :/ So to summarize what you’ve missed:
I traveled to Portland 2 weeks ago for work (blog and pics coming soon). In another life, I would live in Portland. It’s absolutely beautiful and the vibe is exactly what I needed when I went: chill, hiking, music, sustainability, walking downtown, green. You get it. Amzing.

Boyd Crowder aka Walton Goggins has a blog! →
If any of you are obsessed with Justified like I am, then you’ll enjoy the actor who portrays Boyd Crowder, real name Walton Goggins’s blog. Apparently he is a world traveler and is into Photography. I can’t get enough of the pictures-so beautiful. It’s so weird how someone can play a character so well and then be completely different in real life.
